The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has expressed its strong opposition to the recent decision by the United States government to keep Cuba on its list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism.
The Venezuelan foreign minister, Yvan Gil, made this position public through his Telegram channel, where he also denounced the “double standards” of the U.S. government. Gil argued that the United States has historically been tolerant of terrorist acts in various parts of the world as long as they serve its geopolitical interests.
Gil also stated that this hypocrisy undermines any accusation that the U.S. can make against Cuba, a country that, according to the chancellor, has demonstrated its commitment to global peace, evidenced by its support for dialogue processes in Colombia.
